In bankruptcy proceedings, the Automatic Stay is a federal injunction that immediately stops collection efforts by Creditors, collection agencies, and government entities against the Debtor and its property. The Automatic Stay temporarily suspends efforts to collect on or proceed against those debts against the debtor while a bankruptcy case is open.
